Freedom Counseling Services

Welcome students!  This school year will be different, but we are still here to support you.  We will be able to meet with you utilizing various ways of online communication.  As the 2020-2021 school year begins, make sure to do the following:

  • Complete your Free, Reduced Lunch program form.
  • Set up your ParentVue and StudentVue
  • View your schedule, available beginning August 10.

Services

Counseling Services:

  • Individual, group and family counseling, plus mediation and referrals are available. 

  • Post-secondary and career planning are an integral part of the guidance program. 

  • ACT and SAT registration packets and sample test booklets are located in the counselor's office. 
  • Tours to UNM and CNM are coordinated through the guidance office. 
  • Regular on-site registration and information sessions are scheduled by representatives from state institutions of higher learning.  
  • College admissions information
  • Financial aid and scholarships, including the FAFSA 
  • Distance learning and eCademy registration
  • Dual credit enrollment with CNM and UNM.  

 

School Based Health: 

Freedom High School houses health care professionals from the community to provide additional support to the students and their families.  Student and/or their families may access services by contacting the school counselor at 884-6012 extension 46506.  Together with Freedom's Nurse Practitioner, our Counseling Office also coordinates a variety of health and mental health supports and referrals for students.

  • SAT and 504 referrals 
  • Social Work services through Special Education

CONFIDENTIALITY

Information discussed with the counselor is private unless the information needs to be shared to prevent danger to the student or others. If information needs to be shared, the counselor will make every effort to let you know of the appropriate source (s) that need to be contacted. This may be a parent/guardian, administrative personnel, protective services, or law enforcement. Other shared information includes court subpoenas and communication with other professionals to better support you. Our primary responsibility is to our students, but we also acknowledge parents rights to be informed.
